A videowall is a
large display that is usually constructed of nine or
more smaller video cubes. In some cases, they can be very thin and exceedingly
bright, due to new options in LEDs and plasma screens.
Generally, with our characters, the smaller the mullions
are (those
lines
between the
cubes),
the
better image and experience you have.
An exhibitor
who wants a videowall that's 10-20 feet tall is usually
looking at an option that starts around $15,000 and
goes up. Walls are often costly to ship, install
and dismantle, and until a few years ago, were very tricky
to set up just right. No one wanted one cube that
wasn't
the same color as the rest of them, and on some walls,
16-20 cubes are used. We
are ready to get in there and work with any AV
house who brings
in a videowall, as we've done in a few cases. The wall
usually has to be erected before we can setup our gear,
so we've seen quite a few different types of systems.
All of them are slightly different from each other,
and the applications are slightly different as well.
We provide our expertise and can assist you in selecting
the appropriate system if you feel like you are in
over your head.
With the GVC theaterwall shown here (at TS2 in Chicago),
you can set it up in a 10x10 booth against a wall, and
still have room for CHOPS along side. Sure it was cramped,
but
what an attractive display! The wall itself is only
two feet deep, so everything can sit behind the midpoint
of the booth, giving you room for a chair and podium
on one corner. The image on the wall was seven feet
wide by about six feet high, when four cubes are used. We've even
used a single videocube before, with great results. Videowalls
are often available locally, in the city of the show,
can ship in just a few crates, and can be setup in
a couple of hours. Some videowall companies have
units stored in several large cities, so there's a
chance
your shipping
charges could be across town, instead of across country.
Innovation in videowalls
is moving rapidly and we'd be happy to investigate the "latest and greatest"
for your next tradeshow project. |
