Staging Requirements for Tradeshows
and Special Events

We want to make booking and staging our technology as easy as possible for our clients. The less hassle, the better - is our rule for business. The description below is a general guideline to including a character in your booth or on the big screen at an event.

The Details of Staging

Space requirements - The Digital Puppeteer control booth sits on a 5x5 foot footprint. It can be set up inside an enclosure or can be free-standing in its own sound isolation booth. Our booth is covered in a gray drape on three sides, with one side partially open behind a clear vinyl curtain, ala the Wizard of Oz. This booth is big enough for one or two performers, yet small enough to fit into a tradeshow booth as small as a 10x10. The entire animation system is contained in this space. And in some cases, we have configured the booth to fit a 3x6 footprint, big enough for one person to squeeze inside.

Power requirements - The power requirements are one dedicated 15 or 20 amp circuit of normal 110 volt power. For appearances overseas, we request that our clients furnish a voltage reduction unit. A 15 amp circuit is just like a normal wall socket.

Video requirements - We can supply a high resolution computer graphic image at 1024 x 768 or better, including HDTV resolutions for any type of plasma screen or projector. Video formats are also available in many flavors. Either way, you get a clean, predictable signal that is compatible with your video display system, no matter what it is.

Audio requirements - Our turnkey system comes with an audio subsystem that is based on professional components, so that the audio feed you get is pre-mixed and delivered at line level, in order to connect it to your professional mixer. That's the best interface when the live animation is integrated into an existing audio system, but we can also provide speakers, stands and 200 watt amp, so we can be completely self-sufficient for you.

Using teleprompters - For corporate stage shows, teleprompters are a big help and are compatible with the live animation technology. Generally, we simply add a teleprompter monitor into our control booth, and the performer has a place to get his lines while doing the show live. By using the spy system, he can see and hear what is going on on-stage, and can easily interact with a live performer or company presenter at the podium. Plus, we usually setup the control booth so the actor can also see what is going on in the "video village" and can get hand cues or see the video from the I-MAG system.

Experienced professionals -Our thorough understanding of the staging of both tradeshow appearances and corporate meeting presentations makes using CHOPS a technical "no-brainer." When we work with stage crews from all over the world, we fit right into the "video village" scheme of the show, because of our extensive past experience backstage. We guarantee that using CHOPS will be free of technical hassles, and that this side of our work will be both predictable and successful.

If you'd like to speak to a technical director who ran a show where we've participated, let us know and we will pass on the phone numbers of some of our references.

Most TDs really like CHOPS for stage shows, because they can communicate with the performer over the headsets while he is performing live, in real time. Try doing that with on-stage talent.
