The chance
to win a $5,000 prize will attract hundreds of people to a tradeshow booth, especially when
CHOPS, an interactive virtual character, is the MC of the
contest.
Pioneer performance
animation artist Gary Jesch, who calls himself the “Digital Puppeteer,” put this idea
to the test at Fun Expo in Las Vegas, and collected more
than 600 qualified leads a day, while delivering his marketing
message to attendees waiting in line to play. Show attendees
were given a chance to enter their lucky numbers into an
electronic lock-box supplied by SCA Promotions. The “Virtual
Vault” (CHOPS’ name for it) is also known as
the “Visible Vault” (TM SCA Promotions), and
it contains a grand prize that can only be won by the person
who enters the correct five or six-digit code number.
When
a customer cracks the code, SCA pays the grand prize, not
the exhibitor. The fee for the vault is actually an insurance
premium calculated by SCA’s managers based on the
approximate number of tries, the value of the prize and
the number of digits in the code (1 in 99,999 or 999,999
odds). The vault features a programmable digital display
and clear sides, so that people can see the valuable prize
inside. It measures about a foot square by nine inches
wide and can easily be shipped via Fed EX in its own shipping
case. At the end of the show day, it can be taken out of
the booth easily.
Jesch performed as
CHOPS, talking about the prize on his PA system to attract people, who then
interacted with his
character at the edge of the booth. He also had two assistants,
one dressed up as a security guard to supervise people
putting their numbers in, and the other to record leads
on the lead recording device. Only those who “qualified” were
allowed to try, and in three days, no one came up with
the winning number. At the end of the show, Jesch opened
up an envelope containing the correct number and demonstrated
that the vault would open correctly if that number was
used.
“It was fun, easy to use and affordable,” Jesch
said. “People were using all kinds of strategies
for coming up with their lucky numbers. And showing the
prize inside helped me attract them to the booth.” As
far as qualified leads are concerned, the exhibitor can
choose who can or can’t play, excluding other exhibitors
or sales people, etc. The exhibitor can also decide how
many tries a person can have, and CHOPS and the “security
guard” can help enforce that.
CHOPS’ Live Animation also offers another promotional
product by SCA, the Twister – an inflatable
chamber filled with coupons or money. An attendee steps
inside and the fans come on, letting the contestant try
to grab as much paper as he can. After about 30 seconds,
the attendee comes out and counts his or her winnings.
Valuable prizes secured by SCA can be offered with this
fun experience as well.
These are just a couple
of the interactive contests and
amusements offered by Live Animation to increase the excitement
level in a tradeshow booth or at a special event, in conjunction
with our virtual characters. These can be obtained directly
from the providers (please mention our name!) or we can
include them in our package when you book one of our shows
for a tradeshow or company meeting.

Another company we
work with, carries a full line of virtual reality experiences to use as
traffic builders in conjunction
with CHOPS or a virtual character as MC. Absolute Amusements
can provide virtual surfers, snowboarders, golfers, racers,
skiers, jet pilots, football players, batting, putting,
basketball and trap shooting, among others. For a huge
impact in the booth, check out the "Big Bertha" slot
mahine, and use CHOPS to get the brand message out while
people are waiting in line to play it.
